Bauhaus Museum Dessau
2015, Dessau (DE)
The project aims to find the extended design possibilities of the current digital era. The natural advantages of high-complex geometry will be the embodiment of the new Bauhaus Museum in Dessau. Several simulation tools have been developed on the basis of the Reaction-Diffusion model "Gray Scott" to search for the architectural qualities of the geometry. The Cellular Automata produces a conceptual scheme for a high-complex arrangement of spaces: "Labyrinth Structures", where new visitors can experience the most important pieces of the museum, merged with "Maze Structures", that grant regular visitors the possibility to discover new pieces of the collection in a spontaneous way.The building volume absorbs the city park in a fluid motion, therefore granting public cultural spaces to the city of Dessau at ground floor. The interlocking exhibition spaces can be found underneath the museum square, constructing an intense exploration through the heritage of Bauhaus.
